Muhammad has been campaigning for this title fight for more than a year and defeated former title challenger Gilbert Burns for his fifth straight win at welterweight. Muhammad is unbeaten in his last 10 outings, but he suffered an eye poke that resulted in a no-contest when he last faced Edwards in 2021.

Edwards won the 170-pound title the following year, knocking out longtime champion Kamaru Usman with a head kick in the final round of a fight en route to losing on the scorecards. Edwards would go on to win a decision in a rematch before defeating Colby Covington late last year. While his striking has always been a threat, Edwards’ wrestling has come a long way in recent years. Here, he gets another chance to defend the title in his home country, while Muhammad hopes to make good on a title shot that has been a long time coming.
Co-main event analysis

In the co-main event of UFC 304, interim heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall is a -245 favorite against veteran heavyweight Curtis Blaydes, who comes in at +205. The two met in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in 2022, with Aspinall losing via injury TKO after blowing out his knee while throwing a kick in the opening seconds of the bout. Aspinall was out for a year with that injury but has won two in a row, including a first-round knockout of Sergey Pavlovich to claim the interim heavyweight belt last November.

Blades suffered a TKO loss to Pavlovic last year but has made a name for himself as a perennial contender in the heavyweight class by combining a grinding wrestling game with strong ground-and-pound. In eight years with the UFC, he’s only lost to three men. He’ll likely look to test Aspinall’s wrestling in this one while trying to stay away from the big man’s leg-punching ability.
